Several factors can instigate your Samsung Galaxy S9 to heat up. Usually, smartphones become hot gradually when the processor becomes exhausted due to the constant loading of heavy applications or multitasking. It is quite normal for the device to become warmer than usual while using the phone extensively for long hours, due to common reasons.
A similar thing can happen when you try to charge the device. However, if overheating gets beyond control; or you cannot hold the phone due to excessive heat, you have to pay attention to the problem, and start looking for the remedies right away.
One of the most prominent reasons for the device to become heated unnecessarily is malicious software updates. This problem can occur in several devices even if you have just got it from the store.

However, the consequences force you to take the best course of action. Frequent software updates on the phone can lead to overheating issues. It can also change the phone settings without your knowledge. If this is one of the reasons for the phone to become heated too often, the chances are that the settings must have altered allowing the phone to function continually.
You have to reset the settings and reconfigure the necessary options. Often, you get notified that the fast cable charging feature on the Galaxy S9 has enabled on its own. It is a warning that the phone can become overheated when you allow this feature to function.Samsung Gear S3 get software update to fixes battery bug, overheating Issues
The best you can do is to disable this feature so that the phone takes the usual time to charge. However, you can refresh this option for a couple of minutes by deactivating and then reactivating it. When you activate the soft reset option, you will notice that the phone has shut down automatically along with the applications that run on the background. After performing the action of soft reset, you have to check whether the heating problem in the phone occurs again or not.
This is one of the unique settings of this phone, and it is useful as it does not allow the third party apps to use the battery excessively. As you enter the submenu, you can choose all the apps to make sure that it is activated for all of them. If the phone keeps on heating even after you have carried out a software update, you can blame the faulty app for overheating.
You can try to run the app in the safe mode, to check whether it is the reason of overheating the device. If the issue cannot be noted in the safe mode, be sure that the problem is due to the actions of the third party apps that do not run in the safe mode. Once you detect the problems on the device, you have to uninstall the apps or the cut the access of the device to the third party apps.
Once you enter the Safe Mode, you can keep it for several hours or days to check whether it can stop the problems of overheating the device. You might not prefer updating the software of the applications installed on the device.
However, this is one of the issues leading to the problem of overheating the phone. Ideally, the software updates remove the old bugs from the previous software. If you do not resolve these issues, it can overuse the resources making your phone very hot every now and then.
Wait until the scanning process begins and choose the Update Now option to switch to the latest version of the software for the applications.

Mine is also very hot. Just got it today. I should hear from them in 3 days?? My phone is extremely hot. It's not unusual for a phone like the Samsung Galaxy S10 to occasionally get warm to the touch. It has a fast processor and graphics chip, as well as memory and a battery — and unlike traditional computers, has no way to actively cool itself, such as with a fan.
If your phone gets warm when you play a graphics-intensive game or watch a video for an extended period of time, and cools down again afterwards, there's probably no cause for concern.
But if it seems to get uncomfortably warm in normal use, there may be a problem. Here are some tips for solving overheating problems and keeping your phone as cool as possible. Phone cases can trap heat, and in some cases — especially if thick and bulky — are more likely to make your phone unnaturally warm.
If you find that your phone is getting hot, especially when it's charging, try removing it from the case and see if that solves the problem. Whenever you're troubleshooting a problem with your phone, you'll invariably encounter advice to restart it. Turning your phone off and back on again can flush out a misbehaving app or corrupted data. You can turn simply turn off your phone and then restart it, or perform a soft reset. If you've installed a buggy app, it might force your phone's processor to over-extend itself, which can both make it run hot and run down the battery faster than usual.
One way to see if this is the culprit is to boot your phone into so-called "Safe Mode," which prevents third-party downloaded apps from running. If your phone doesn't overheat in Safe Mode but does ordinarily, you can try uninstalling recently downloaded apps until you find the one causing problems. Hold the Power button on the side of the phone until the Power Off button appear. Tap and hold "Power Off" for a second or two until the Safe Mode button appears. Use the phone in Safe mode to assess if it's overheating.
When you restart the phone, let it boot in normal mode. If your phone still gets uncomfortably warm in normal use, it's possible the phone's cache partition has corrupted data. Turn off your phone by pressing the Power button on the side and tapping "Power off," then tap "power off" a second time.
Press and hold the Volume Up and the Bixby keys, then press and hold the Power button. Hold all three buttons until you see the Android logo. After the menu appears, use the Volume Down button to choose "Wipe cache partition" and then press the Power button to select it. Use the Volume Down button to choose "Yes" and then select it with the Power button.
When the cache wipe is completed, press the Power button to select "Reboot system now. Now it's not. There could be a setting that is causing excess drainage but only because the update caused it to. After waiting for about 45 minutes I got someone on chat-support and she suggested trying all the things I'd already tried and that didn't have any effect. So I went thru all that.
The next day I did what I didn't want to do but what support suggested: reset the watch after backing everything up. That improved performance a little but it's pathetic compared to what it was before the update.Drawing challenge ideas 2020
